Much brighter than expected, considering its low cost and basic design. In fact, it will blind you for a few moments if you look directly at it. This is NOT a "headlight", but it does function very well as a marker light to help others see you, etc. Purchased this for my mountain bike for street riding and commuting. Mounting system does not allow to switch between vertical and horizontal mounting very easily - if you mount it directly to the handlebar, it will be vertical only. Several flashing modes to choose from, more than most lights. Off-axis view/dispersion is good, but not great. But this is a basic light after all. My biggest complaint is the button on the back that you press to switch flashing modes seems very inconsistent in its responsiveness - sometimes you have to press it repeatedly to switch between modes to find the one you want.
