Product Description

Brooks Saddles Team Professional Alpe d'Huez is a timeless Brooks Saddle for sportive riders. The Alpe d'Huez is one of the main climbs and has been a stage finish in the Tour de France almost every year since 1976. The first was in 1952, won by Fausto Coppi, at a time when most cyclists were riding Brooks Saddles. The pattern of the Alpe d’Huez impressed on this saddle has been designed by Dan Funderburgh, a wallpaper designer and artist in Brooklyn, NY. A high amount of craftsmanship is needed for this model to hammer the big copper rivets and skive the leather on the sides with a special knife. The frame is made of chrome plated steel. This antique brown leather saddle is ideal for road or mountain bikes. This saddle weighs 550 grams.

Wish I would have bought this ten years ago 5 by .. Gerard D. Fertig ()
After hearing about how hard Brooks saddles were to break in I really never considered getting one. 22 cycling years later after joining a cycling group that all swear by them, and a biometric high tech seat that was destroying gooch; decided to take a risk and buy one.

When I got it I put it on my Specialized high tech carbon fiber bike. It looked like a dichotomy of 1880's verses 2009 technologies. I read about all the quick ways to pre-condition the saddle but decided to take it for a ride before touching it. Well what I found was that I could ride at a higher height with out soreness while having more power with no difficulties what so ever. As a matter of fact I rode 45 miles on my first outing. The second day was just as good. I can't wait until it really breaks in to feel what awaits me. I wish I would have bought this (verses the 5 or 6 other high end seats that I used) ten years ago.
