I defintely trust this lock!!

This lock and chain is just awesome. I am 100% confident that my bike will always be waiting for me when I return to it! In 5 years of working and being a student in a downtown city, I've had 4 bikes stolen - which were locked up every time! When I came across this lock, I was shocked by the price... but then I thought about it: instead of spending a few hundred on a new bike every year, I'll pay for half another bike now as insurance to keep my current one. ... which is another good point about this lock - Kryptonite insures your bike up to $4000 if it is ever stolen!! That's pure confidence from a company right there, and no one else is offering anythig like that, so my confidence is also very high when I walk away from my bike.
This is definately a huge and heavy lock, but I don't see it as a problem and I use it every single day the sun is out. If you're a skinny lil whimp, you'll probably find yourself complaining carrying this thing around. I still laugh everytime I pick it up and put it over my shoulder, the sound it makes when it rattles is awesome (the links are 1/2" thick steel that way over a pound each!), and I can't believe I'm carrying it around for a bike... it seems like you should be tying a boat down with this thing! But that's the exact reason this lock is so great, it's not going to break! It's gonna take a torch or some heavy duty power tools to break it, and not many bike thieves are packing that kind of heat!
When I recieved this lock from amazon, the box was all busted up and the keys were missing. I called customer support and within like 2 minutes, they had another one on it's way with free 2 day shipping!! I was pretty upset at first, but I was very impressed with how they handled it, so I'm not gonna knock amazon at all for it! When the second one came, it was in a box within a box with those air pack things between the boxes and all the contents were there.
Overall, I love this lock and I'm very happy I bought it! Highly recommended if you want to walk away from your bike laughing at the idea of someone even TRYING to steal it!

This meets my needs perfectly. The bikes are locked at one location or to the vehicle, so I don't have to carry it while biking. It would be quite a load to tote this everywhere. However, If you want to be as sure as possible to keep your bike where you left it, then this is the one. Also, I believe the included insurance tetifies to the companys' confidence. If you consider toting this on your bike, I would suggest finding something of similar weight to make some test runs before spending the cash. It's a beast.

Yes, this is a beastly lock that could help ensure your ride doesn't go for a walk when it's parked down on Canal, but for this namesake of bike messenger Mecca doesn't help out the heaviest user of chain locks: the NYC bike messenger. Sure, NYU students can keep their daddy's bike locked to the fence overnight, but the dropout lock shackle and odd lengths of the chain will keep this lock off my waist, and off most other messengers, too.

I will make this review simple and to the point.
It is the strongest lock I have ever owned. If a thief can get through this 20lb+ chain and lock then they deserve my bike more than I do. With that protection comes a major negative. This thing is heavy (I took a 25lb dumbbell in one hand and this chain and lock in the other....they seemed about the same weight to me). It seems much heavier than the 16lb advertised. I have a 2008 Specialized Allez and the chain alone seems to weight 2X the bike!, much less the 5lb lock.
Way to heavy for commuting (the reason I bought this lock)
