I would just say be very careful with this bike. Growing up on Schwinn I loved the product in the late 90's and owned a full suspension Homegrown. For those out to get a great deal this is the bike for you. Just don't expect it to last much more than 500miles. Now if you are serious about riding that will be about 2 weeks. You do get what you pay for and the problem you are going to run into is obsolete chain store parts. There is a reason a good road bike costs upwards of 3k. I didn't even think they made a 7 speed bicycle anymore. I know just this year I had a very hard hard time finding an 8 speed cassette replacement. I don't work for a shop but when I saw this pop up on daily deals I just has to say buyer beware. I would be afraid to ride this even if it was assembled at a good bike shop.

Outstanding bike for a great price 5 by .. Royner Almeida (Sheppard AFB, TX)
I'm new to road biking, but I've been mountain biking for quite some time now. The one thing that I've learned is that you want to start off with a well built bike that has potential. This is that bike. There are a lot of newer mechanical advances that allows for further upgrades to some of the newest and hottest components on the market. It comes with a 1 1/8" threadless headset, three piece crankset, rear derailleur hanger and a single bolt seat post. All features are convenient for easy upgrades. Mechanically that bike performs very well. Out of the box assembly was minimal and easy. I'm 5' 7" and went with the 54cm model and it fits me great. Once I took it on a quick spin I noticed that the gears needed a little adjusting which almost all bikes due. Ever since it's been working great. I've had no problems with it and I'm already past 100 miles. Last thing I want to leave u with is that bike shops are really the only place to buy these bikes and they start off at around $700. Also if you try to find a good used one chances are the bike is going to be pretty old and still sell for about $400 plus.

this bike is great if you are looking for a basic road bike and don't want to spend the $1k. It has ok components but the shifters are ancient. I did not care about that and thats why i bought it. however, something you can't see from the pic is that the bike frame has a forward lean and as such it can be uncomfortable. Today's geometry is the opposite in road bikes where the seat post is lower than the stem. I really wanted to keep the bike but i just can't ride in that position. I returned it becuase i was not comfortable ridding like that and amazon took it back no problem. If you don't mind the forward lean i would really recomend the bike and note you would be happy with it as it looks really good as well.

Great *ROAD* bike for the Price 4 by .. J. Xing (Clarksville, MD USA)
Ordered the Katana from Amazon about a month ago. Since then, I've put 20 miles on it riding through hard sand/gravel on the C&C Canal path by Georgetown, Maryland. Half way through, it started to rain, and we were pedaling in wet weather. Obviously the bike stood up well, even in those rough sandy conditions where it wasn't designed for. After that, I used a high-pressure hose to spray off all the sand/gravel that got caught in it. Then after drying and oiling it up properly (brakes, chain, etc.), it works like a charm now on the city roads, where it was designed to be.

All said, this bike comes from amazon pretty much pre-assembled. It helps a lot to assemble it with someone who's done it before, but I managed to do it alone, without ever assembling a bike before. All you really need is: 1) an adjustable hex wrench for the pedals, and for taking the back tires off. 2) allen wrench set for putting the handle bars on, and readjusting the brakes/gears.

The good thing about the cantilever breaks is that they're very easy to adjust to the right tension with one person, one hand holding the cable, and one hand tightening the screw. (Read the instruction manual to set this up the right way so you get it right on the first try).

Then, after adding some chain oil (Finish Line, Wet Lubricant) to the chains, and some brake cable lube (Tri-flo mineral oil or White Lightening wax lube), your bike will run very smoothly.

$400 Bike 4 by .. MMP126 (Ohio)
I got this bike about 3 weeks ago and here is the trip so far...

Got the bike quick (even with the free amazon shipping) and was really excited for it. It came in the morning so I put it together. The assembly was not hard and I have never owned a bike before this one. It took me about an hour to put it together. It takes some patience and alittle thought to do it correctly. Problem Number 1 arose here. I did not get the quick release nut for the seat post. This was no big deal at all. Just made a run down to the hardware store and got a $.15 nut. quick fix.

Rode it for a few days then problem 2 arose. Flat tires. I got 3 in 2 days. So, I fixed this with better tubes ($10 total for both tires) and some quality rim tape (velox, $10, worth every penny). Those were all the real problems I had. So I got the bike and it needed a few things for it. Im ok with that. It will need to go to the local bike shop to get tuned up and stuff in the near future.

I took it out and put 20mi on it and didnt have one problem since. It shifts pretty well, I threw the chain once. It is SUPER light, quiet, comfortable. I love it and it has made me want to ride more.
