This Mountainsmith Bike Cube is a great bag. I bought it because I needed a bag that was designed to carry a bike/skate helmet. This bag more than filled the requirement and actually allows me to store and carry 2 large helmets plus lots of other gear and a change of clothes (t-shirt, shorts, etc.). The price is reasonable too. I would recommend it to others.

I have had this bag for three years now and it is great. I use it as a cycle bag in the spring/summer/fall and a X-country bag in the winter. It stores everything you could want for both sports. The only bad thing about the design is they should have put the shoulder strap attachments on the outside of the bag compartments verses the inner. At $35.00 it is a true value item.

I used to throw things in various sized "bucket bags" and was always fishing around for stuff, and in some cases the bags tilted enough in transit to spill the contents, as there was no top to any that I had used. No more. Nothing spills out of the Bike Cube, and there's room for everything.
I echo the complaint-suggestion about the strap placement on the Cube made by Gerard Fertig, and thanks to him for the idea of using it for skiing or cross-country skiing. The straps have annoyed me a bit, as well, when accessing the center compartment. However, in all other respects, the bag is great. My daughter, a USAT certified triathlon coach and ex bike racer, got it for me as a present, saying at the time that everyone she knows in her area of the country who has it has the same opinion: they love the bag. The top of this bag's compartments is made of a heavy-duty plastic mesh, to allow some airing of sweaty clothes. Come to think of it, I may put the bag to work during the cold months as a gym bag.
It easily can hold two helmets, two pairs of shoes, a towel and extra clothes, and it has enough compartment space on the inside sidewalls to hold things like tubes, tools, medicines (anti-chafing cream), etc. Keep the thing packed and when traveling to a ride you have to grab only it and your bike.
My super-organized wife has watched me using the bag, and now she's envious. Her previously satisfactory system isn't so great any more -- I got another cube for her to give as a present. We'll soon have a problem: the potential to grab the wrong bag when going somewhere alone, because it (the basic, not deluxe version)comes in only one color, high-visibility black! I'd like a color choice.
It's too big to fit under an airplane seat, but I'm sure it will fit in the overhead compartment.
One cautionary note: make sure any filled water bottles you put in the bag with everything else do not leak!!
